Beetlejuice Fruit

Have you ever had a Beetlejuice fruit? I have. Contrary to popular belief, a Beetlejuice fruit is not a pineapple with Michael Keaton's face on it (fig. 1).
I was in Berkeley sitting cross-legged on the corner of Piedmont and Bancroft with my friend Rachel and someone else that I can't recall. My other friend Annie was sitting in a tree, so we couldn't talk to her. She seemed preoccupied. We were all eating something called a Beetlejuice fruit (fig. 2).
It tasted like an orange but it looked like a bell pepper. It was purple on the outside, but green on the inside. We talked and had a good time, but Annie was still in the tree.
